Murrieta, Temecula schools to be closed Friday because of air quality concerns

The Murrieta Valley Unified School District and Temecula Valley Unified School District will be closing all of their respective schools Friday, Dec. 8, because of smoke from the 300-acre Liberty fire.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District has issued a smoke advisory saying northeast winds are expected to continue through at least Friday morning and that smoke from the fire could impact air quality.

Road closures were also a concern.
