Movie theaters fail to show Oscar contenders

The most highly praised current movies are being kept from almost 700,000 people. Residents of southwest Riverside County can check their local listings for these Oscar contending titles: “Lady Bird,” “Wonderstruck,” “Last Flag Flying,” “The Breadwinner,” “Mudbound,” “The Killing of a Sacred Deer,” “LBJ,” “The Florida Project,” and “Three Billboards outside Ebbing Missouri.”

Time magazine and others have written about them, and they are likely Oscar contenders. But they won’t be shown here. The theaters in this area, as usual, are all showing...
