Report of stolen vehicle in Lake Elsinore leads to discovery of auto theft ring

Rafael Quintero, 27, of Good Hope was linked to an auto theft ring and arrested Wednesday, Dec. 13, officials say.

A 27-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning, Dec. 13, as a suspect in an organized auto theft ring after deputies tracked down a vehicle stolen from Lake Elsinore in the nearby community of Good Hope and found evidence that other vehicles had also been stolen.

Rafael Munoz Quintero, of Good Hope, was arrested on suspicion of operating a chop shop, second degree burglary and receiving stolen property.

He was booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center with bail set at $25,000 and released the next day, according to online jail records.
