No muss, no fuss holiday gift shopping is right around the corner for those fortunate enough to live in in the Temecula Valley and surrounding areas. From the fun shops in Fallbrook to the shops on state Route 79 south and beyond, there are literally thousands of places to search out the perfect gift for any occasion.

When it comes to shopping local, I love the locally-owned, fun and funky shops in Old Town Temecula, Historic Downtown Murrieta and downtown Fallbrook. You can’t go wrong with these stores when looking for those unique gifts this holiday season, so without further ado, here are my top picks for holiday shopping this year.

Cottage Charm, 41529 Ivy St., in Historic Downtown Murrieta, offers those unique one-of-a-kind vintage gifts that can’t be found anywhere else. And with affordable pricing, it’s easy to knock out a majority of the holiday shopping in one fell swoop.

In Old Town Temecula, I love the Little Viking, King Barrel, The Farmer’s Wife, and my new favorite, Old Town Spice and Tea Merchants.

The Little Viking, located at 28465 Old Town Front St. Ste. 104, has great gifts, including jewelry, home decor and food gifts guaranteed to be loved by all whether you are of Scandinavian heritage or not.

King Barrel, at 42030 Main St., uses repurposed wine and whiskey barrels to create some unique home decor items that are sure to please even the pickiest on your holiday shopping list.

The Farmer’s Wife, at 28459 Old Town Front St, Ste. 125, has wonderful unique, seasonal gifts, including a large selection of soaps and lotions and their collection of chic country home decorations, as well as beautiful handmade jewelry suitable for both young girls and older women.

Old Town Spice and Tea Merchants, at 41925 Fifth St., Ste., 101, is a veritable delight to the senses from the moment you step into the door. With literally thousands of spice and tea blends, along with specialty and hard to find items for the kitchen, this store offers amazing choices for the chef on your holiday gift giving list. Don’t forget about their spice and tea of the month club.

In Fallbrook, be sure to check out the one-of-a kind gifts at the Fallbrook Art Center at 103 S. Main Ave. In both the Gallery Store and the exhibition galleries, where local artisans show off their stunning artworks, you are sure to find the perfect gift for the most finicky recipient on your gift list.

Remember, no matter who you are shopping for this holiday season, there is a veritable treasure trove of gifts right here in our own backyard.
