MENIFEE – Menifee United Church of Christ plans to serve a free Christmas dinner to people in need and to those who otherwise would be alone, noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 25.

“‘Tis the season to reach out to others,” the Rev. Bill Freeman, senior minister of Menifee United Church of Christ, said. “Our congregation wants to do just that.”

In the past when the church served free Christmas dinner, 90 people were served. People have donated turkeys and ham to the church for the meal. Dawn Smith at the Community Cupboard in Menifee said her group will donate vegetables for the dinner. In addition to hungry people, volunteer cooks and servers are welcome. For more information, call the church at (951) 679-1149. Menifee United Church of Christ is located at 26701 McCall Blvd. in Menifee and conducts worship services, 11 a.m. Sundays.
