Winter storm prompts road closures throughout region

A rockslide prompted a partial closure of a mountain highway in Riverside County today, while flooding and toppled power lines led to other closures as the first storm of the winter season blew through.

According to the California Highway Patrol, state Route 243 between Idyllwild and Twin Pines was partially closed this morning after a rockslide dumped a boulder and debris onto the two-lane highway.

The slide was reported about 6 a.m. and mainly impacted the southbound lane, the CHP reported.
