Fees dropped to encourage MLK day visits to National Forests

Visitors to the San Bernardino National Forest, about one-third of which is in Riverside County, will be able to access any part of the preserve for free Monday in celebration of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

According to the U.S. Forest Service, fee waivers will be in effect all day, in all areas of the 676,000-acre forest.

"From Wrightwood to Idyllwild, the San Bernardino National Forest offers a variety of rich experiences for visitors," said USFS spokeswoman Jody Noiron. "You can play in snow, hike the tallest peaks in Southern California, explore hundreds of miles of dirt roads...
