Hemet fire damages home

HEMET – Flames damaged an abandoned house in Hemet today, Jan. 28, but no one was injured, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 3:15 a.m. on the 700 block of North State Street, Hemet Fire Department Battalion Chief James Majchrzak said.

The flames were in a covered breeze way of the boarded-up house and firefighters had to cut through a fence and boards to get to it, Majchrzak said. It took 13 firefighters about 30 minutes to put out the flames.
