Hazmat crew evacuates people from Temecula restaurant

Last updated 2/10/2018 at Noon

A hazardous materials team evacuated two people from a Temecula restaurant on Friday night after an unknown substance apparently made them feel ill, according to fire officials.

The incident was reported about 8:39 p.m. at the Shogun Restaurant across from the Promenade Temecula at 41501 Margarita Road.

Information about what happened was limited, but a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire news release says the two people suffered what were described as "minor injuries" and were taken to the hospital.

Fire officials say they did not determine the cause of what made the two sick and that the incident has now been turned over to Riverside County Department of Environmental health.
