Area residents learn all about composting during informational class

Visitors to the Rancho California Water District Saturday, March 10, got a crash course in how to utilize items they might normally throw away for a backyard compost pile that would feed their plants.

The compost presentation, attended by roughly a dozen people, was presented by members of the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources. The presentation focused on the best mix of ingredients for compost, how big a compost pile should be, and what characteristics a person should look for to make sure their compost is maturing in the right way.
