Marching to the beat of their own drum, Paloma Valley High School's NJROTC heads to national competition

Paloma Valley High School NJROTC cadets celebrate their win at the NJROTC Area 11 Superbowl State Championships.

Marching to the beat of their own drum, cadets from Paloma Valley High School NJROTC are preparing to head to Pensacola, Florida, where they will take part in the 2018 NJROTC Nationals Academic, Athletic & Drill Championship.

According to NJROTC instructor Frank Puebla, until this year, the team at PVHS had always chased behind what he calls a "powerhouse" school – Troy High School from Fullerton.

"They have 400 cadets in their program; they have four instructors," he said. "We have been chasing them since I got here almost seven years ago."
