The brand-new display is colorful and manned by store personnel at the Krispy Krunchy Chicken grand opening at the Mountain Sky Travel Center in Anza Monday, March 19.

For fried chicken aficionados, Krispy Krunchy Chicken is a familiar name and taste. The Cajun-inspired fare includes red beans and rice, honey-coated drop biscuits, chicken breast tenders, their famous fried chicken pieces and more.

Representatives from the Krispy Krunchy Chicken company, along with Cahuilla Tribal management and others welcomed its new partner, Monday, March 19, to the Mountain Sky Travel Center in good Southern style.

The food items have been available for a few weeks, replacing the original recipe, fried chicken offerings that the store has had since its opening in 2015.

Promotional items and free samples abounded at the opening. An official ribbon cutting took place, complete with Patron Ambassador Rosie Grindle wielding the oversized scissors.

Founded in 1989, the company has been specializing in Cajun-style chicken from Louisiana and marketing themselves as a "Convenience Store Foodservice Concept" with good food and quick service, and it has been growing in leaps and bounds. There are now more than 2,300 retail locations in 41 states nationwide. They charge no franchise or royalty fees but provide quality food at reasonable prices and sport a bright, cheerful branded image to the public.

The chain offers a good selection of heartwarming favorites alongside their crispy fried chicken, including macaroni and cheese, honey-coated biscuits, rice-and-pork stuffed boudin bites, jambalaya, peach cobbler, sweet potato pie and even breakfast empanadas filled with egg and chorizo.

The eatery boasts a unique business model: It almost exclusively targets convenience stores for expansion, and it has arrived in Anza.

The chain requires all operators to use Tyson products and its proprietary marinade, meaning its food boasts the same quality and taste from California to Louisiana.
