Temecula, seeking 'Tree City USA' designation, holds tree planting event

Workers pound stakes into the ground to support one of three oak trees that were planted at Harveston Community Park in Temecula Saturday, March 31.

The city of Temecula had an Arbor Day celebration at Harveston Community Park Saturday, March 31, in hopes of receiving a special designation from the Arbor Day Foundation.

Three oak trees were planted at the park on Harveston Drive and Mayor Matt Rahn read a proclamation as part of an early Arbor Day celebration (actual Arbor Day is April 27). The event was part of an effort by the city to receive a "Tree City USA" designation.
