Person found shot in Hemet home, police investigating

Last updated 4/5/2018 at 4:14pm

Police found a person with a gunshot wound to the head inside a Hemet home Thursday afternoon and the incident was being investigated because of "suspicious circumstances," officials said.

According to Hemet Police Lt. Eddie Pust, police received a call about 12:18 p.m. about a person with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head at a home in the 2800 block of Rafferty Road.

Officers arrived to the home and found the person still alive. He or she was taken to a nearby hospital and was being treated later in the day, according to Pust.

It's unclear what the suspicious circumstances were that prompted further police investigation. Pust said no more information was available Thursday afternoon.
