Mount Palomar Winery becomes haven for dachshund owners during yearly festival

Dachshunds race as a throng of onlookers takes photos and video during the ninth annual Wine Country Wiener Fest races Sunday, April 15.

Dozens of dachshund owners and their furry, four-legged companions converged on Mount Palomar Winery in Temecula Valley Wine Country Sunday, April 15, for the ninth annual Wine Country Wiener Fest.

Throughout the upper level of the winery, guests could buy dachshund-related merchandise, watch dachshunds race and possibly even adopt a dog.

The event was the brainchild of Temecula Valley Dachshund Club founders Janice and Jim Richardson, the proud owners of four rescue dachshunds.
