Wildomar council considers how to move forward on sales tax increase, marijuana sales

Wildomar City Council had staff start working on a 1 cent sales tax measure to put on the November ballot, but decided to wait to do any work on a marijuana related ordinance to see what the board of supervisors did at the county level.

Wildomar City Council last week directed city staff to begin putting together a proposal for a 1 cent sales tax increase but decided to not make any immediate decisions on pot businesses in the city after hearing the results of a survey that asked voters their thoughts on both issues.

Richard Bernard of FM3 Research group took the council through data from a poll of 980 registered Wildomar voters which showed a majority were in favor of a sales tax increase for additional city services but a majority were also strongly opposed to cannabis cultivation, testing and sales.
