Assembly Democrats kill bill to build more homes for middle-class families, Melendez says

SACRAMENTO – Assemblywoman Melissa A. Melendez, R-Lake Elsinore, announced April 10, that the Assembly Democrats killed her housing legislation, Assembly Bill 2856, to streamline housing developments for low- and middle-class families.

“Democrats can cut red tape to build football stadiums and basketball arenas, but they can’t cut red tape to build housing for the poor?” Melendez said. “It’s time Democrats stop lining their pockets with special interest dollars, and start doing something tangible about the housing crisis.”

AB-2856 would have spurred new housing construction...
