Pink Floyd Sound uses such elements as lasers, projectors and fog to replicate a Pink Floyd concert experience. The band will be playing at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater, May 3.

People can relive some of Pink Floyd's greatest albums and concerts at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater Tuesday, May 3, when tribute band Pink Floyd Sound performs.

The concert, which begins at 8 p.m., will feature innovative stage design and lighting, female backup vocalists and Pink Floyd's most popular songs from the albums "Meddle," "A Momentary Lapse of Reason," "Dark Side of the Moon," "The Wall" and others.

Lead vocalist and guitarist Vincent Di Scala said his band tries to replicate the Pink Floyd live experience with the use of lasers, lights and projections. Band members try to look and sound just like members of the actual band.

"I try to recreate David Gilmour's appearance and sound as best I can," Di Scala said. "I play his candy apple red Fender Stratocaster, and I have all of his signature tones; my bassist, he has Roger Waters' all-black precision bass and the drummer, he's pretty authentic with his drum fills and his Nick Mason sound."

Di Scala said he started putting together a Pink Floyd tribute band in 2011, but his interest in the band started long before that.

He said he remembers being 4 years old and listening to his dad play a "Momentary Lapse of Reason" in the car. He said his dad and his uncle also watched the concerts.

"I kind of got sucked into it," he said. "They would watch it, and I went over there and watched it with them. I would watch David Gilmour and his guitar playing, and it really just caught my eye and it was something that I wanted to do."

Di Scala said his favorite album from the band is "Wish You Were Here" because every band member had a unique contribution within the album.

He said his favorite Pink Floyd song is "Comfortably Numb" from "The Wall" because, "I love David Gilmour's guitar work in 'Comfortably Numb.' It's just amazing."

About seven years ago, Di Scala put out a Craigslist ad seeking other members for a band, and soon everything came together.

The band has played such Southern California venues as the Thousand Oaks Civic Center Plaza and the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. It will be their first show at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater.

Di Scala said his favorite part of being in the band is giving people a good show. He said that with appearances from Pink Floyd band members being so rare, people are glad to hear Pink Floyd Sound perform and put on a show that's similar to the real deal.

"It makes me feel good that people enjoy it," he said. "And it feels good to do it."

Tickets for the event are $40, with a half-price discount for students, military members and children under 12. For more information, visit the Old Town Temecula Community Theater's website at https://tickets.temeculatheater.org/eventperformances.asp?evt=1109.
