Lake Elsinore passes resolution opposing California's sanctuary state law

Lake Elsinore City Council votes to pass a resolution opposing California's sanctuary state law during its April 25 meeting.

With a 5-0 vote, no opposition and some strong words, the city of Lake Elsinore passed a resolution opposing Senate Bill 54, decrying the state's sanctuary state law signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown in October 2017.

The move came about after some inquiries from the public, according to Nicole Dailey.

The resolution goes one step shy of joining a federal lawsuit against the state filed by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, March 6, which seeks a judicial decision that would invalidate SB-54 as preempted by federal immigration laws.
