Last updated 5/11/2018 at 3:26pm

TEMECULA - Several Riverside County residents were recipients of California State Senator Jeff Stone’s 2018 Veteran’s Service Awards, which honor veterans not only for their service, but also for the contributions they’ve made to their communities.

Stone picked a total of 10 recipients for the award, five in Southwest Riverside County and another five in the Coachella Valley region. The Southwest Riverside County residents will be honored during a ceremony later this month in Wildomar.

“We had a record number of nominations and it was quite a challenge to select the 10 recipients this year,” Stone said in a statement. “While I believe everyone who serves honorably in our military is worthy of special recognition, after reviewing the applications with the veterans who serve on my staff, these are the veterans who were selected for this year’s awards.”
