Signups for Ramona Bowl Summer Youth theater coming

The Ramona Bowl Summer Youth Theater performs "High School Musical," last summer. The youth theater group will offer "Shrek" in 2018, with signups beginning May 12.

HEMET – The Ramona Bowl will be having signups for the 10th annual Summer Youth Theater, 8 a.m., Saturday, May 12, at West Valley High School choir room. The program is open to students ages 5-18. There is a $50 registration fee due at signups.

This year's production is "Shrek." Rehearsals start June 11 and are held every day from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. The performances will be 6 p.m. July 2-3. Every child who enrolls will be in the production. Students will learn singing skills, dance techniques and blocking, characterization, projection, plus other acting techniques. The first two weeks rehearsals will be held at West Valley High before moving to the Ramona Bowl. Director Janet Martin was in charge of last year's performance of "High School Musical." Musical direction will be under Paul Fults, music teacher for Hemet Valley Unified School District. Stacey Bailey who directed the program for many years will be the producer.

"Shrek" is the 10th annual summer theater production. The first show was "Annie Get Your Gun," and others have included "Peter Pan," "Little Mermaid," "Beauty and the Beast," "Camp Rock," "Aladdin" and "Alice in Wonderland."

In addition to the registration fee, there will be a costume fee of $45, due June 11. All students will need a parent to sign them up. For more information, contact Stacey Bailey at (951) 316-4030 or email [email protected]
