A fire that erupted today in a field on the edge of the Soboba Indian Reservation in San Jacinto blackened seven acres before it was contained.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 12:50 p.m. near the intersection of Lake Park Drive and Soboba Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Nine engine crews, four hand crews, two air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter were brought to bear on the brusher, which had spread to three acres by the time resources reached the location.

Soboba Fire Department personnel, along with a Morongo Fire Department engine crew, assisted in battling the blaze, which did not threaten homes or other structures.

By 2 p.m., the flames had been contained. There was no word on how the fire started.
