Injured hiker airlifted off trail in Anza

ANZA – An injured hiker was airlifted off a hiking trail in Anza Wednesday, May 9, and taken to a hospital.

The unidentified man was reported hurt just before 9 a.m. on the Pacific Crest Trail, near mile marker 138.82, according to April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

The hiker, who suffered an unspecified “lower extremity injury,” was located by a Riverside County sheriff’s helicopter and loaded onto the chopper by county firefighters who hiked to his location, Newman said.
