Local elected officials decry sanctuary state law during meeting with President Trump

A group of 16 California officials, including Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez, Lake Elsinore Mayor Natasha Johnson and San Jacinto Mayor Crystal Ruiz gather in the White House for a roundtable discussing immigration issues faced by Californians, May 16.

Three local elected officials were presented with a unique chance to share their concerns regarding California's Sanctuary State status when they were invited to attend a roundtable discussion at the White House last week.

Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez, San Jacinto Mayor Crystal Ruiz and Lake Elsinore Mayor Natasha Johnson all attended the event hosted by President Donald Trump, Wednesday, May 16, where they along with 13 other California officials discussed Senate Bill 54 and the effect it has had on their communities.
