Retired Cal Fire captain feels the need for speed at Perris Auto Speedway

The roar of the engines, the scent of racing fuel and burnt rubber, the cheering of the crowds and the crunch of "trading paint" are all part of stock car race night at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris. The excitement is contagious and addictive. For participants and fans alike, it is an adrenaline rush like no other.

Anza resident and retired Cal Fire captain Ken "Swede" Ogren has taken up this grueling sport this season. The 69-year-old has a rich history with racing and now finds himself tightly belted into the seat of a bright yellow, heavily modified 1977 Chevrolet Camaro.
