Firefighters battle small brush fire near Temecula

8:30 p.m. update:

A 10-acre wildfire that ignited in a rural, unincorporated county area southwest of Temecula prompted the deployment of over 100 firefighters today, fire officials said.

The blaze was reported at 3:29 p.m. near the intersection of Calle Uva and Calle Jardin, said April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

Water-dropping helicopters, 11 engine companies and 113 firefighters responded to the slow-burning fire, she said.

There were no reports of injuries or evacuations, and Newman said no structures were threatened.

First report:

Riverside County firefighters were battling a five-acre brush fire in the hills west of Temecula on Saturday, June 2, fire officials said.

The fire, reported about 3:29 p.m., was burning in the area of Calle Uva and Calle Jardin in the unincorporated community of De Luz, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman April Newman said.

The fire was burning at a slow rate of speed, according to Newman.
