Temecula approves purchase and installation of new surveillance system

Temecula City Council last week approved spending roughly $4.5 million for a new surveillance system that will be used at city sites and traffic intersections.

The council voted 3-0, with Councilmembers Jeff Comerchero and Maryann Edwards absent, to approve a purchase and installation agreement and maintenance work agreement with Illinois-based Convergint Technologies.

The new system is intended to enhance public by having the city’s surveillance equipment on a single platform, according to a city staff report. The report says that cameras and infrastructure will be set up at 24 city-own...
