Local youth baseball player takes her passion into Major League Baseball's Trailblazer series

Temecula's Kate Weller recently ran into a major role model in her life, Kelsie Whitmore, who also grew up playing baseball in Temecula.

Girls playing baseball is not a new thing, obviously, but girls having the opportunity to play organized baseball, together, starting at a young age, is still somewhat of a new concept. Our area has already seen one local standout pave the way for females in the sport. Temecula's Kelsie Whitmore, who not only played baseball for Temecula Valley High School from 2013 to 2016 and was on the All-Women's USA Baseball team, was a part of history in 2016 when she, along with two other Team USA teammates, made their professional debuts with the Sonoma Stompers.
