Hemet students expand on MIT research in breakthrough for Alzheimer's disease

Krystal Horton and Tanner Packham, students at Western Center Academy, move on to the state Science and Engineering Fair for their work which expands on MIT research in preventing Alzheimer's disease.

HEMET – Science Fair projects have become more detailed and sophisticated over the years because students have a greater access to science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics-related classes and instruction. Many Hemet Unified students were recognized for their advanced projects, but two HUSD students advanced to the state competition, April 23-24. These two students built upon research from Alzheimer's research from MIT scientists by coming up with a hypothetical treatment for a plaque build up in the brain associated with the disease.
