Area Boy Scout makes 'Eagle Scout' rank after completing leadership project

Scouts prepare a flag for retirement by fire at Nolan Grant's Eagle Scout Court of Honor and Flag Retirement Ceremony Saturday, May 26.

Class of 2018 Hamilton High School senior Nolan Carl Grant became the recipient of the coveted Eagle Scout rank in a ceremony held at Lake Riverside Estates for his leadership project, an "honor ring" to retire worn out American flags.

Grant is the 79th young man in Boy Scout Troop 337 to receive the hard-earned rank.

The ceremony included bagpipe music performed by Daniel Butchart, a recognition of Grant, a flag retirement and honors. A small group of family, friends, troop members and residents participated in the event.
