June is Swordfish Special Month at Pinnacle

TEMECULA – For the month of June, the Pinnacle restaurant at Falkner Winery will offer a swordfish special in a different preparation every weekend. Swordfish is a meatier type of seafood and is delicious under many preparations. Each special comes with vegetables and is priced at $32. For June 1-3, the restaurant will serve grilled swordfish marinated in garlic and herbs with saffron rice, roasted asparagus and topped with lemon caper butter. The June 8-10 special will be seared blackened swordfish with a cilantro and lime cream, corn salsa and roasted fingerling potatoes. For June 15-17, guest can come try pan-seared swordfish with a creamy romesco sauce, grilled zucchini and herbed mashed potatoes. The final weekend, June 22-24, features grilled swordfish with rice pilaf, roasted garlic broccolini and Mediterranean tapenade. Falkner showcases a number of events each summer for guests and member to enjoy.

Falkner Winery will host a Food & Wine Club Pick-Up Party, 3-5 p.m., June 9, for VIP and Barrel members, although all club members may attend. There is no charge for VIP members, a $10 per person charge for Connoisseur members and a $15 per person charge for Barrel and Crush Club members; all are redeemable in wine purchases. They will taste the 2016 Chardonnay, 2017 Viognier, 2017 Sauvignon Blanc, 2014 Meritage, 2015 Amante, 2015 Syrah, 2015 Reserve Sangiovese, 2015 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2013 Merlot. The 2013 Merlot and 2017 Viognier will be available at 50 percent off for case purchases and 30 percent off for single bottle purchases. The Wine Appreciation Class, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, June 16, is designated for people of all levels of wine knowledge with the objectives of improving their knowledge in how to best enjoy wine and have fun. The class is conducted monthly for $45 per person or $70 per person if lunch is desired after the class. Connoisseur members are $40 per person, and VIP members are $20 per person for the class only. For those individuals who are intimidated by wine and wine-speak, they will find this class entertaining and enlightening. Shane Sevier, one of the tour directors and is also an assistant winemaker, gives the class in an entertaining manner. Individuals interested in attending the next class should register by contacting the winery at (951) 676-8231, ext. 109. Class sizes are limited, so all reservations must be made in advance and remember that gift certificates for these classes are available.

The winery will be hosting a special Mediterranean Lunch and Wine Tasting, June 30, only for Food & Wine Club members. It will include a wonderful four-course Mediterranean-style lunch paired with Italian-style and Syrah wines that should be both fun and delicious. The event will take place Saturday afternoon between noon and 3 p.m., downstairs in the Pinnacle restaurant among the wine barrels. The menu is being developed by Executive Chef Jason Barrada. Wines to be poured will include selected vintages of amante, syrah, cachet and reserve sangiovese wines. The menu will be emailed to all members and placed on the website when available.

Wine Club members will also be able to purchase a limited quantity of special library wines that are sampled. The lunch and tasting will cost $59.95 per person plus tax with 12 wines being poured. This invitation is for the member, their spouse or significant other and up to two guests. Members must accompany their guests for this invitation to be valid since names will be checked at the door. Falkner Winery has restarted their popular FUNday, SUNday games and barbecue food offerings on all Sundays, noon to 3 p.m. There is no charge to play any of the games, and one series of games will be designed as “Tournament Play” with a prize awarded to the winner. Initial games will include Winepong, which is like Beer Pong; Cornhole, a beanbag toss game’ Connect Four, a tic-tac-toe game and Jenga, a building block game. Tournament Play will require signup and a 1 p.m. start time, and the selection of game will differ from week to week. The tournament winner will receive a wine prize.

In addition to the fun games, the winery will be offering freshly prepared items from the barbecue. While not a barbecue item, they will offer Maine lobster rolls made with lobster salad, lettuce and lemon; baby back ribs in half and quarter slab sizes; half pound and 1/3 pound Angus burgers made with fresh Black Angus beef with cheese, mushrooms, lettuce and tomato; a grilled portobello mushroom sandwich with Monterey Jack cheese, roasted bell pepper, lettuce and pesto aioli and specialty grilled corn on the cob in either Mexican style, bacon ranch style or garlic parmesan style. Available beverages will include multiple wines, craft beers, sangria and several specialty “Wine Cocktails” such as strawberry mist, cotton candy and Luscito.

Ray and Loretta Falkner, owners of Falkner Winery in Temecula Valley, announced that they are conducting a weekend Anniversary Event, June 30 through July 4, to celebrate their 18th year in business. The public is invited to a lively weekend that includes yard games and tournaments on Saturday and Sunday, winery tours, huge sales, hourly raffles, lunch specials in their Pinnacle restaurant and other fun events. In order to help make room for some new releases available that weekend, selected wines will be offered at up to 50 percent off case prices. It will include some of the wines on the tasting menu that have won gold medals in this year’s wine competitions. Selected gifts will also be on sale at up to 30 percent off. Wine will be “raffled” off each hour, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 30, July 1 and July 4, with the winner able to purchase the bottle for only $1.

As part of the event, the Pinnacle restaurant will offer a great “Anniversary Special for 2” lunch. The special meal provides two people a choice of shared salad or appetizer, separate entrees, shared dessert and non-alcoholic beverage for only $59 plus tax and gratuity. Glasses of wine are available with this special available at $7 per glass. Additionally, the winery will have their unique, outdoor wine tasting bars open for the weekend so everyone can enjoy the spectacular view from their hilltop setting. Guests will be able to order and enjoy freshly prepared food, order from the picnic menu and purchase and drink the Falkner’s award-winning wines, while relaxing at tables in their beautiful lawn area.
