Murrieta police officers on Saturday afternoon, June 9, arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of killing his father, officials said.

Nicolas Gayelyrd Hunt-Tanner was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center with bail set at $1 million, according to online jail records.

Murrieta Police Lt. Tony Conrad wrote in a news release that officers went to a home in the 39000 block of Sunrose Road after receiving a call about a medical aid.

Paramedics and officers arrived at the home to find a man in his 50s with injuries "consistent with blunt force trauma and stab wounds." The man, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hunt-Tanner was arrested shortly after the incident on Saturday.

Police officials asked anyone with information about the incident to contact Murrieta Police Detective Miguel Garcia at (951)461-6362.
