Thousands of people are illuminated as they observe fireworks exploding above Ronald Reagan Sports Park in Temecula during the annual Fourth of July Extravaganza, July 4, 2017. This year's Fourth of July Extravaganza will end with fireworks that can be viewed from throughout the valley.

The city of Temecula aims to provide family fun and fireworks at the Fourth of July Extravaganza, in celebration of national independence.

Children with the Temecula Valley Mothers of Multiples participate in the Temecula Fourth of July Parade in Old Town, July 4, 2017. This year's event will include the popular parade.

The day begins with the Star Spangled Fourth of July Parade, 10 a.m., in Old Town Temecula. It will travel between the Old Town arches, running south to north, featuring marchers, bands and unique floats.

Later in the evening will focus on family fun and entertainment, as well as a firework display. The Ronald Reagan Sports Park opens 8 a.m. for residents, but starting 2 p.m., there will be food vendors and a kids' fun zone.

The kids' fun zone is open 2-8 p.m., with $5 wristband, cash only. The wristband allows unlimited use of the setup games, prize wheel, face painting station and inflatable bounce area. The community recreation center pool will also be open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided free for partygoers 2-9 p.m. on the mainstage, with fireworks beginning 9 p.m. and being simultaneously broadcast on KATY-FM 101.3.
