Murrieta City Council honors police officer's retirement

The Murrieta City Council honored a newly retired police officer at its June 19 city council meeting.

Murrieta police Cpl. Kent Chivington retired June 9, after 12 years with the city’s police department and 20 years in law enforcement.

The city council presented the officer with proclamations from various other officials, including California Gov. Jerry Brown and Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez.

Sean Hadden, chief of the Murrieta Police Department, noted Chivington’s numerous achievements as an officer.
