Smoke from wildfires may affect air quality in Riverside County

Last updated 7/10/2018 at 1:47pm

Smoke from four fires burning in surrounding counties could create unhealthy air for some regions of Riverside County today.

The 1,139-acre Valley Fire burning to the north in San Bernardino County and three wildfires burning in the Camp Pendleton Area to the south in San Diego County prompted the South Coast Air Quality Management District to issue a smoke advisory for the Lake Elsinore area and the Coachella Valley.

"Air quality may reach Unhealthy for Sensitive Group levels or higher in areas directly impacted by smoke,'' SCAQMD officials warned.

Residents in the affected areas were advised to stay indoors and avoid vigorous exertion, especially those who are pregnant or have respiratory or heart diseases.
