First city-sponsored July Fourth parade in years; San Jacinto sponsors Independence Day Parade and Street Festival

San Jacinto's Independence Day Parade is led by 2018 Grand Marshal Sonia Ramos, CEO of Boxing for Christ, center, with her golden belt boxing winners from the past year following. Each of the boxers were at the top of their game at national amateur boxing contests.

The city of San Jacinto sponsored its first Independence Day Parade on Main Street for the Fourth of July, bringing thousands of residents and visitors to watch the spectacle featuring bands, floats, classic cars, military organizations and dignitaries.

It was the first time the city sponsored the event that in recent years was sponsored by the Hemet San Jacinto Chamber of Commerce. The parade route ended at Jordan Street where the city's first July Fourth downtown street festival was being held.
