San Jacinto retaining dollars spent on the shelved Santa Ana River Levee project

While the long-sought San Jacinto River Levee and Corridor Expansion Project has been shelved indefinitely, the San Jacinto City Council reported nearly $8.5 million in Riverside County money set aside for the project has not been lost.

The city councils for the past 10 years have been working to expand the San Jacinto River Levee, insuring residents downstream their safety in a predicted 100-year flood. The city joined with the Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District to obtain land and money to expand and improve the levee along the Santa Ana River from the eastern...
