Riverside County Third District Supervisor Chuck Washington's office and California 23rd Senate District, Senator Mike Morrell's office will host a Mobile Home Fee and Tax Waiver Informational Presentation from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the James Simpson Center, 305 E. Devonshire, in Hemet.

Assembly Bill 587 (AB587 2015-16) addresses the issue of vehicle license fees, payments, non-payments, and late payment charges for homes purchased prior to July 1, 1980. Under AB 587, all outstanding charges and liens assessed by the department on a mobile or manufactured home will be waived, when a person who is not currently the registered owner of the specified manufactured home or mobile home applies to the department for registration or transfer of registration of the home prior to December 31, 2019. The individual must meet certain requirements.

These requirements will be discussed at the presentation. Representatives from the California Department of Housing and Community Development may be able to help residents obtain a fee and tax waiver for their manufactured or mobile home and become the new registered owner. Representatives will also help residents determine eligibility and help in completing the paperwork for the Fee and Tax Waiver program created by AB 587.

The waiver program does expire December 31, 2019. For more information, Contact Opal Hellweg, Legislative Assistant, (951) 955-1030.
