Players congratulate each other for games well-played at the Maurice Chacon Memorial Horseshoe Tournament at the fourth annual Cahuilla Earth Day and Gathering Saturday, June 23.

The fourth annual Cahuilla Earth Day and Gathering began Friday, June 22, with the opening blessings and the starting games for the Round Robin Softball Invitational and the basketball tournament.

The opening ceremony included a traditional blessing of the grounds, a Cahuilla elder blessing, Cahuilla Tribal Council welcoming, bird singing and a special reading by tribal member Emily Clarke.

Saturday morning, June 23, events continued as vendors set up their booths, offering gifts, jewelry, food, information, education, crafts and more. The public was welcome to attend this celebration.
