Man sentenced for restaurant robberies in Hemet and San Jacinto

BANNING - A Hemet man who held up or attempted to rob fast-food restaurants in Hemet and San Jacinto was sentenced today to nearly 33 years in state prison.

A Banning jury in May convicted 30-year-old Melvin Raymond Means of four counts of armed robbery and two counts of attempted robbery, along with multiple sentence-enhancing gun use allegations. Jurors acquitted him of two counts of kidnapping to commit robbery and were unable to reach a unanimous verdict on one robbery charge, which was ultimately dismissed.
