TEMECULA - A fire sparked by a crash between a motorcycle and another vehicle was burning west of Temecula today.

The fire was burning in a 20-feet-by-20-feet area of vegetation near the intersection of Avenida Del Oro and Rancho California Road, in an unincorporated area just west of the city limits, according to the California Highway Patrol.

However, the CHP said the fire has the potential to burn 100 acres, and Riverside County firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

The crash that ignited the blaze occurred at about 12:50 p.m. and authorities were searching the surrounding area for the driver of the motorcycle, according to a CHP incident report.

It was unclear if anyone was injured.
