Temecula Police arrest duo for financial elder abuse, fraud

Ashia Wilson, 27, and George Word, 35, were arrested in connection with several cases of financial elder abuse and other crimes late this week.

TEMECULA - The arrest of a Moreno Valley resident Ashia Wilson on July 25 and George Word of San Bernardino on July 26 was the result of months of work by the Temecula Police Department.

The department spent nine months investigating 11 separate incidents involving fraudulent transactions and theft from elderly residents at a retirement community on the 2700 block of Nicolas Road in Temecula.

In an incident release from the department that was distributed today, Temecula Police said Wilson, 27, was employed as a leasing agent at the retirement community and has been arrested for multiple counts of financial elder abuse, identity theft, embezzlement, forgery, and burglary. Word, 35, was arrested as a co-defendant to the crimes.

Both were booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center.
