Hemet High School graduate and Murrieta attorney Tom Frahm plays the Beatles Paul McCartney during the appearance of the Los Angeles cast of Beatlemania at the Ramona Bowl Amphitheater Thursday, July 19.

If you were at the Ramona Bowl Saturday evening, July 21 you saw four men in mop top haircuts, thin ties and dark suits with musical instruments. You may have thought the Beatles had made an appearance from the past. Sitting on the drums, it was hard to tell, was it Ringo Starr or Pete Best?

It was "Beatlemania" in the Bowl.

There was dancing, clapping, colorful light wands waving and happy children frolicking in the star-lighted, warm evening. A closer look showed it was the Los Angeles cast of Beatlemania, not the legendary Beatles making an unannounced reappearance from the past.

There among them was a familiar face, but a little older gentleman playing the Beatles Paul McCartney, a Hemet High School graduate and a practicing Murrieta attorney. It was Todd Frahm playing the bass guitar, a favorite instrument of McCartney. Just like Paul, Frahm was playing with his left hand. Frahm still plays with the Los Angeles cast of Beatlemania in his spare time.

His bandmates for the evening were Jimmy Pou as George Harrison, Howard Pattow as John Lennon, and Dan Grass as Ringo Starr.

During the performance at the outdoor amphitheater, which drew more than 1,000 area residents and longtime Beatles fans, there was a costume change for the Los Angeles cast of Beatlemania at the intermission. The intermission ended with the entrance of what appeared to be none other than the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely-Hearts Club Band made famous by the original Beatle song.

It wasn't a "Hard Days Night" for the Los Angeles Cast of Beatlemania to put on a Beatles tribute at the Ramona Bowl final Summer Concert at the Bowl Thursday, July 19.

Cheers came up from the audience at the band played the famous Beatle number with more and more adults and their children moving down the aisle to dance and wave their light wands on the dirt path in front of the stage.

The show was outstanding with the group performing to its finest, a true tribute to the Fab Four "Moptops" from London, England who thrilled the world of music and the younger generation for years.

The Ramona Bowl Summer Concert Series concluded with the Los Angeles cast of Beatlemania, but other special events, to be announced are in the planning stages.

The Ramona Bowl is located at 27400 Ramona Bowl Road in Hemet and offers its own gift shop and museum of past Bowl events open through the week. Call (951) 658-3111 for museum and gift shop hours, special events and membership opportunities.
