Nonprofit Spotlight: Hope's Community Closet pampers students in need

Racks are lined with clothing and ready for patrons of Hope's Community Closet in Temecula.

Local students in financial need are pampered as VIP guests during private appointment-only events at a Temecula boutique with a welcoming feel and trendy vibe. Money may be tight at home, but on their designated shopping day, these young shoppers can browse the aisles selecting gently-used, freshly cleaned and ironed clothing.

Hope's Community Closet is the brainchild of Krissy Allen, who was so moved by stories of local families in need following the 2008 economic downturn that she created a project to outfit elementary school students at back-to-school time. Today, her creation is a thri...
