MORENO VALLEY - A brush fire broke out today just east of Moreno Valley and blackened about 12 acres before crews got it under control.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 11 a.m. in the area of Gilman Springs Road and the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The fire did not threaten any homes but did disrupt traffic on the freeway and Gilman.

About 75 personnel on the ground, with help from two air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter, had the blaze completely contained within less than an hour, according to the fire department.

There was no word on what triggered the fire.
