ANZA — The Anza Public Library, managed by Riverside County Library System (RCLS), is currently closed due to a power outage caused by the Cranston fire that burned 13,300 acres in the San Jacinto Mountains.

During the closure, RCLS has worked with the Riverside County Office of Emergency Services (OES) to secure an area within the Anza Community Hall, which also serves as the areas Cooling Center, to be able to provide free Wi-Fi internet, computer, and printing services to assist its registered library patrons in this time of need.

The Anza Library staff are scheduled to be onsite at the Anza Community Hall for the duration of the library closure and power outage. The RCLS resource van was launched to deliver three laptops, one printer, two internet hot spots, and one AWE Early Literacy Station to support the needs of the community. In addition to utilizing the computer services in the temporary location, patrons may also return or renew any checked out library materials and apply for a library card.

Late fees will be waived during the closure.

During this time, storytime, book club, and other events, like Harry Potter's Birthday Party, have been postponed.

Hold requests against Anza Library's collection and the delivery of requested titles have been suspended at Anza Library, but library patrons can still request items to be sent to other RCLS branches.

Patrons may utilize the limited library services this week at the Anza Community Hall, located at 56630 CA-371 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Patrons will be notified once the power is fully restored and library reopens for its regular operation.

The Idyllwild Library has also re-opened for library services after a temporary five-day closure due to the Cranston fire evacuation orders.
