One man is in critical condition and another injured following an alleged shooting in Anza on Thursday afternoon.

According to Investigator Armando Munoz of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Public Information Office, an assault with a deadly weapon was reported at about 3:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon in the 56500 block of Highway 371.

One victim was life-flighted to a local hospital in critical condition. According to Munoz, another person was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A neighbor, who did not wish to be identified, said they heard up to six gunshots closeby and called the police.

"There are pot growers across the street and now we figured the shots were coming from there. My husband could hear male voices," the neighbor said. "The Sheriff's office called my husband back and asked for him to watch. He went into the bathroom and caught movement at the pot grower's place. A man was yelling, 'Help I've been shot.' I yelled back that deputies were en route. He also asked for water."

The neighbor said the two Sheriff’s deputies walked the properties and located one of the men hiding in nearby bushes and told the officers that he had been shot in the leg. The neighbor said he was taken away in an ambulance for treatment.

This is an ongoing investigation. More details will be updated as they become available. If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Riverside County Sheriff's Department at (951) 776-1099 or (800) 950-2444.
