Idyllwild Arts Foundation forced to cancel concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall

IDYLLWILD — The devastating Cranston Fire caused the entire town of Idyllwild to evacuate within hours, forcing home and business owners to leave with very little notice. More than 300 Idyllwild Arts Foundation (IAF) campers were safely evacuated from the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program, and while the fire came eerily close to the Idyllwild Arts Foundation’s (IAF) campus, there was no loss of life or property.

Due to the business interruption, campus evacuation, and current infrastructure assessments, IAF must regrettably cancel the final week of the Summer Program, including the culmination performance by the Idyllwild Arts High School Summer Chamber Festival Orchestra and Festival Choir & Ensemble scheduled for Aug. 5 at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The school awards nearly $6 million each year in scholarships to deserving students, and the concert at Disney Hall was another important fundraiser.

Despite the cancelation, IAF will continue to prepare the campus for its 25th annual music festival, Jazz In The Pines (www.jazzinthepines.com), scheduled for August 10-12. The event raises scholarship funds for talented students to attend Idyllwild Arts Academy and Summer Program.

Donations to the Idyllwild Arts scholarship program can be made at http://www.idyllwildarts.org/giving.
