Last updated 8/9/2018 at 2:19pm

Hemet resident Lauren Weeks is the newly crowned Mrs. International 2018.

Lauren Weeks, Hemet businesswoman and mother of two, has become the 2018 Mrs. International after competing against 60 other contestants from around the world in the Mrs. International Pageant in Charleston, West Virginia, July 21.

Weeks, in addition to her new Mrs. International role, has a role in yet another upcoming production of "Beauty and the Beast" at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in September. She will play in the lead role as Belle in the classic children's tale.

She received the crown and a bouquet of red roses in the three-hour Mrs. International event, sponsored by International Pageants, and was joined by her husband Ian Weeks on the stage in front of a sold-out crowd in the Charleston Cultural Center.

Weeks competed in the three-category competition against other contestants in interview, fitness wear and evening gown contests. The International Pageants system promotes community service with half of each of the contestants' competition score based on knowledge and work with her platform.

During her yearlong reign, Weeks will be promoting Together We Rise,, an organization that provides basic essentials and other programs and services to children in the foster care system. Weeks has served the organization for eight years, during which she has helped raise money to replace the trash bags foster children are given to transport their items to a new home with new duffel bags – also known as "Sweet Cases" – filled with essential items, as well as teddy bears coloring books and crayons.  To date, she has raised money to purchase and donate more than 1,000 duffel bags to Southern California-area foster programs, according to the International Pageant announcement.

"My cousin was briefly in the foster care system before she was adopted by my aunt, and I witnessed how much joy they brought to each other," Weeks said. "Since then, I've been dedicated to making a difference in the lives of other children in the foster care system. As Mrs. International, I hope to provide donations to children in other countries and double Together We Rise's 'Sweet Cases' donations in 2018."

Weeks is the mother of two young boys and enjoys family time hiking, fishing and camping. She has a bachelor's degree in business communications and owns an entertainment business, as well as continuing to pursue a singing and theater acting career.

The Mrs. International Pageant is the only platform-based system and is owned and operated by International Pageants, which also operates the Miss, Miss Teen and Miss Pre Teen International competitions. Mrs. International showcases married women 21 to 56 years of age and includes their husbands as an integral part of the program. For more information, visit

Weeks will take a break from her Mrs. International activities to perform as Belle in the "Beauty and the Beast" in the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula presented by the Theater Royal players, 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 21, and 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22. Prices start at $65 and can be purchased online or by calling the Pechanga Box office at (888) 810-8871.

The "Beauty and the Beast" performance will have music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice based on the book by Linda Woolverton. The noted play is presented by the Theater Royal through special arrangement with Music Theater International.
