The Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit is requesting the public's assistance in an open homicide investigation into the death of Silvano Gutierrez Estevez of Menifee who was killed at his home during a botched home-invasion robbery more than six months ago.

In the early morning hours of Feb. 5, Menifee police officers responded to a call of assault with a deadly weapon at Estevez' property on the 27700 block of Monroe Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found Estevez deceased inside the residence on the property.

The Riverside Sheriff's Department-Central Homicide Unit and Menifee Police detectives assumed responsibility for the investigation, but so far, no arrests have been made and investigators are asking for help.

According to a report by the Central Homicide Unit, investigators located a large amount of marijuana on the property and believe the suspect's targeted the victim as a result. Investigators said witnesses have described seeing several male suspects fleeing from the property after the homicide.

Investigator Joshua Manjarrez asks that if you have any information on this case to please contact him at (760) 393-3530, or you can remain anonymous by submitting your information through the Riverside Sheriff's Department tip line at 951-955-2777 or online at http://www.riversidesheriff.org/tipline.
